Ordering

Region, plan, then the game

  1. 01

Choose a region and a plan

Shared CPU for a small Minecraft or Valheim world. Dedicated CPU for a modded Minecraft pack, a FiveM server, a Rust wipe, or an ARK: Survival Evolved map. Memory and disk are listed on the plan.

  2. 02

    Choose the game

Minecraft, FiveM, Rust, Palworld, and the rest show up when a provider hosts them. You pick the game you want to play.

  3. 03

    Start playing

Power, console, files, schedules, backups, and databases are on the server page. Invite friends once the server is online.

Panel

Game server control panel

The game is already installed, with a control panel. It is not a Compute Instance. You do not install Java or the server files over SSH.

  • Power

Start, stop, restart, or kill the server from the same page. The game comes back up without a terminal.

  • Web console

Read the boot log and run commands in the browser. The game process stays on the provider’s machine.

  • File manager

Upload a world, add mods and config files, and edit them on the server.

  • Startup variables

Change settings such as player slots, the world name, and version options.

  • Schedules

Restart, warn players, or run a save on a timer from the same server page.

  • Backups and databases

Backups and MySQL databases are on the server page when the plan allows them and the provider has them enabled on that node.

Shared CPU

Small worlds and friend groups

Shared CPU plans pool host capacity. They fit a vanilla or Paper Minecraft server, a Terraria world, or a Valheim server for a few players. The join address and the panel are the same as on a dedicated plan.

Dedicated CPU

Cores reserved for that server

Dedicated CPU plans keep the cores for that game server. Use them for a modded Minecraft pack, FiveM, Rust, or ARK: Survival Evolved. The plan lists cores, memory, and disk before you order.

Game servers and Compute Instance

Compute Instance

A virtual machine with root access and your own operating system. Use it when you want to install the game, or anything else, yourself.

Compute Instance

Game servers

The game is already installed. You get power controls, a web console, and a file manager. Invite friends from the server page. You are not administering a Linux VM.

FAQ

Game server hosting questions

How do I host a Minecraft server?

Choose a game-server plan and a region, then choose Minecraft. The builds you can pick are the ones that provider installed, such as Vanilla, Paper, Forge, or Fabric. The server is ready to play in minutes. An existing world can be uploaded in the file manager.

How much RAM does a Minecraft server need?

A small Vanilla or Paper world is usually fine at 2 GB. Modpacks and higher view distances commonly need 4 GB or 8 GB. Each plan lists its memory before you order.

Can I host a FiveM server?

Yes, when a provider offers FiveM. FiveM is a Grand Theft Auto V roleplay server. You get a join address, a console, and files for the server.

Which games can I host?

Providers host Minecraft, FiveM, Rust, Palworld, Valheim, ARK: Survival Evolved, Terraria, Counter-Strike 2, Project Zomboid, Satisfactory, 7 Days to Die, Garry’s Mod, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead 2, among others. When you create a server, you only see the games that provider hosts.

How do players join?

Start the server from the panel. When it is online, share it with friends from the server page. They connect from inside the game.

Is a game server the same as a VPS?

No. A Compute Instance is a virtual machine with root access. A game server is the game, already installed, plus the panel: power, console, files, databases, schedules, and backups.

Can I upload a world, mods, and configs?

Yes. The file manager reads and writes the server files, up to the file size limit. Settings such as player slots and the world name can be changed from the server page.

Are backups and databases included?

Both are on the server page. A backup needs a remaining backup slot on the plan, and the provider has to have backups enabled. A database needs a database host on that node.
